| Dave Versluis 21st in the FIM 125cc Junior World Championship Dave Versluis from the Frentec Champ Team finished in 21st position at the FIM 125cc Junior Word Championship at Dardon Geugnon in France last weekend. In the first moto Dave was riding a consistent moto and finished in sixteenth position. In the second moto he was riding inside of the top twenty as well but because of some stomach problems he had to lower the pace and finished the race in 27th position.
In the free practice session on Saturday Dave struggled to find his rhythm. On his race bike he couldn’t put a decent lap together so after several laps he decided to take his spare bike to try it again. His riding started to go better so when he came back in the paddock he was satisfied and ready to go in time practice. In this session Dave struggled to put a fast lap together because of several crashes. He finally ended the session in 37th position and this wasn’t good enough to qualify himself directly for the races on Sunday. At the end of the day Dave had to ride a last chance race over ten minutes and two laps. He took a good start and came out of the first corner in second position. During the first lap he took over the lead and controlled the race from than on. After a well ridden race he finished the race in first position and with this position he qualified himself for the race. In the first moto Dave had to start from the outside. Despite this poor starting position he tried to make the best of it. His reaction was ok but he almost collided with the riders next to him and this cost him some time. He came out of the first corner in twentieth position and in the laps after he tried to pass the riders in front of him. Dave worked himself up to sixteenth position in which he finished. With this position he scored five World Championship points. In the second moto he took a better start and went into the first turn in fifth position. Because he made a few mistakes in the first lap he dropped back to seventeenth position. Dave managed to ride inside of the top twenty for several laps but than he got problems with his stomach. He had to lower the pace and lost a lot of positions. He finally crossed the finish line in 27th position. Dave finished in 21st position overall. This weekend he will race the fifth round of the Dutch Open Championship Series in Emmercompascuum. |
