Top five position for Dave Versluis in the ADAC in Tensfeld

Dave Versluis from Assendelft has scored a top five position at the fourth round of the ADAC Youngster Cup in Tensfeld. In the first moto he was riding in fourth position for a long time but in the closing stages of the race he lost this position and finished the race in fifth position. In the second moto he made a crash and had to come back from the back of the pack. Dave gave everything he had and crossed the finish line in eleventh position which gave him seventh position overall.

Dave took his time in the free practice session to get used to the track. After a few laps he picked up the pace and in lap 5 he set the third fastest time. In time practice it was really busy on the track and this made it difficult to ride a perfect lap. In the beginning of the session Dave set the seventh fastest time. Later in the session he improved on his fastest time and moved up to third position. In the closing stages of the session he dropped a position and finally he ended the session in fourth position.

On Sunday morning he had a good feeling in the warm up session. He was looking for some lines which he could use in the first moto. He set the fifth fastest time and was ready to go in the first moto.

In the first moto he didn’t took a good start but in the first corner he was on the inside and managed to pass a lot of riders. In the second corner he was able to avoid several fallen riders and came out of the first lap in seventh position. In the beginning of the race he worked himself up into sixth position and had the leading group of riders in his sights. Dave tried to close down the gap but made several mistakes and struggled to find his rhythm. During the race two riders in front of him crashed and due to this Dave moved up into fourth position. In the second part of the race he was under a lot of pressure from the fifth place rider. In the closing stages of the race he lost fourth position and finally crossed the finish line in fifth position.

In the second moto his start wasn’t that well and he came out of the first lap in eleventh position. Unfortunately he made a crash in the second lap because he wasn’t able to avoid a few fallen riders. He dropped back to thirtieth position and had to come back through the field. After the crash he struggled to find his rhythm and he had a tough time to make up positions. He kept pushing and managed to work himself back up to eleventh position.

With a fifth and an eleventh position in the motos he finished in seventh position overall. Because he has only ridden one race in this competition he sits in 24th position in the championship. This weekend he will participate in the Zwarte Cross.
