Dave Versluis scores first Dutch Open Championship points
Dave Versluis of the Frentec Monster Energy Kawasaki Team has scored his first Dutch Open Championship points of the season in Gemert last weekend. Despite the fact that he scored his first points, things werenít going the way he wanted it to go. In the first moto he came from last position to finish the race in eighteenth position. In the second moto he made a crash but still finished the race in fourteenth position.
Dave took his time in practice to get used to the track. When time practice started he went out to try to put a fast lap together. After the lap he was in fourteenth position. Dave knew that it could be better and decided to do another fast lap. He improved on his fastest lap time and with still a few minutes on the clock he was in eight position. In the rest of the session he was looking for lines which he could use in the first moto. Dave finally ended the session in tenth position and had a good gate pick for both motos.
In the first moto Dave didnít took a good start but in the first
few corners he was able to avoid several crashes and moved up to
fifteenth position. Unfortunately he collided with another rider
and crashed. It took him a long time before he was back on the
bike and dropped back to last position. Dave started a charge
back through the field and worked himself all the way back up to
eighteenth position. With this position he scored three Dutch
Open Championship points.
Overall he finished in sixteenth position. Due to medical reasons Dave will not participate in the opening round of the European Championship Series in Portugal. On May, 9th round four of the Dutch Open Championship Series will be held in Rhenen.
